Spirulina Pacifica
Spirulina Pacifica seems to be one of the more popular brands of spirulina that one can buy online. It is made by Nutrex and is a select strain of Spirulina platensis cultivated in Hawaii. They are cultured in shallow, open ponds (20 cm deep) next to the Pacific Ocean. These ponds are a combination of fresh water and deep ocean water. Nutrex claims that their Spirulina Pacifica go from pond to finished product in 30 minutes, and their glass packaging has oxygen absorbers and sealer caps to mantain maximum freshness. They also suggest that their Ocean Chill Drying process gives their Spirulina Pacifica much higher levels of phytonutrients and enzymes than other brands of spirulina. Nutrex grows more that 350 tons of Spirulina Pacifica per year.
